Fix White Cydia Icon & Cydia Crashing After Tethered Jailbreak

Those new to jailbreaking stuff would be surprised and arguing what’s “Tethered Jailbreak” and Why you need it. Here is brief about Tethered jailbreak, iPhone jailbreakers needs two different exploits in order to make one perfect jailbreak (untethered) one should be bootrom exploit (hard to find) which can be re-used till product life cycle ends and second is kernel hack which is mostly one time and have to live with the grace of Apple.

The kernel hacks are required to inject code into iOS boot sequence so that every time you reboot your iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad it will be in jailbroken state. with the lack of this kernel exploit as is the case with iOS 4.3.5 you got only bootrom exploit which needs to be manually injected into boot sequence with the help of tethered boot utility or using tethered boot only option of Redsn0w.

Now coming to the main part of this article, if you have recently tethered jailbreaked your iPhone 4, 3GS, iPod Touch 4G, 3G or iPad you will notice the Cydia Icon is white and it doesn’t start also some time even with regular Cydia Icon Cydia doesn’t start.

Now the real reason behind this is tethered jailbreak and you need to tethered boot your iOS device to fix this. Download Redsn0w 0.9.9b1 and use “Just Boot – Just Boot Tethered Now” option under extras screen.
