Former iPhone Hacker GeoHot Arrested For Marijuana Possession
GeoHot aka George Hotz, a well know former iPhone hacker responsible for many untethered jailbreaks and unlocks and was also one of first guy to unlock iPhone back in 2007, has been arrested in charge of possessing marijuana while heading to the annual SXSW conference in Austin.
The news comes from the site, AbovetheLaw, as per them, when Geohot was on his way to attend SXSW, while passing through a border patrol checkpoint in Sierra Blanca, the department of homeland security officers brought the drug sniffing dogs to his car and dogs barked, making them suspicious about content inside Geohotz’s car and he was pulled out of his car along with other passengers for more searching.
Though Geohot has a medical marijuana license in California and he was carrying ¼ Oz of marijuana and chocolate edibles equivalent to less than 1/8 oz. of the drug but the border agents handed them to local sheriff who instead took the whole weight of chocolates, they also valued the chocolate truffles at $800 instead $15. Which without arguments Geohotz had to pay.
GeoHotz was booked for a felony and posted $1,500 bail.
