Fix Sound not working on iPad 2 iOS 5.x

So, you recently updated your iPad 2 to iOS 5.0.1 and puzzling with no sound issue, despite making correct sound settings ? We have come across several threads on different Apple related forums where users having issue of no sound on iPad 2 iOS 5.x. Typical complaint of users is, not getting dings, keyboard clicks, notification alerts or no voice while playing videos or music on iPad.

General Troubleshooting

Make sure you have sound turned on and slider is not set to mute setting if use side switch for sound mute purpose. Use volume up/down to increase the volume. Now check if your issue is fixed or not. If it fails to work then use below steps.

Despite making correct sound settings, if still not able to get sound on your iPad 2, then it seems you are a victim of iOS 5 sound bug. We found that those having iPad 2 sound issue are the one using side switch as lock rotation key, and have set side switch on to disable automatic screen rotation.

If you have similar settings and having iPad 2 sound issue then here is ingenious fix. All you need to do is change the side switch to use as mute key and then turn on sound by sliding side switch off.
