How to Unlock iPhone 4 & iPhone 3GS iOS 5.0.1 with Ultrasn0w 1.2.5
While Pod2G is busy in making untethered jailbreak tool for iOS 5.0.1, iPhone Dev Team is busy in updating their tools to make it compatible for iOS 5.0.1, however it is still tethered jailbreak and doesn’t support new baseband for unlock.
Few days back we had reported about Redsn0w 0.9.9b9 release to support iOS 5.0.1 tethered jailbreak and now here is Ultrasn0w 1.2.5 compatibility update to let you unlock iPhone 4 and iPhone 3GS. Please keep in mind that there is no new unlock and only works on supported baseband. In order to use Ultrasn0w 0.1.2.5 to unlock iOS 5.0.1 you must update your iPhone 4 & iPhone 3GS with custom firmware and preserve baseband option.
The currently support basebands are, iPhone 4 01.59.00, iPhone 3G/3GS 04.26.08, 05.11.07,005.12.01, 05.13.04 and iPad baseband 06.15.00.
In order to create custom iOS 5.0.1 firmware you need to use latest version of Redsn0w 0.9.9b9d for Mac & Windows. How to Unlock iOS 5.0.1 on iPhone 4 & iPhone 3GS
1. Start Cydia from springboard
2. Now go to Manage options and under that select Sources and add following repo URL
Please note that Zero “0” in Ultrasn0w word.
3. Tap on Add Source button to let Cydia to add repo packages.
4. Now to go Search option and search for “ultrasn0w” and tap on “Ultrasn0w from search result
5. Now Tap on Install & confirm button and let Ultrasn0w 1.2.5 complete the install process.
You may need to restart your iPhone 4 & iPhone 3GSfor changes to take effect. Don’t forget to tethered boot using Redsn0w 0.9.9b9.
Once your iPhone 4 or iPhone 3GS reboots enjoy your unlocked iPhone on iOS 5.0.1. Popin your carrier SIM card and start using it.
